“Building on our academic success”
25/8/17: Record Breaking Year for Scarisbrick Hall School
Many congratulations to our record breaking cohort of 2017. The GCSE results this year are the highest in recent history with strong achievement across all of the academic subjects. Despite significant examination changes nationally, Scarisbrick Hall School has raised overall achievement and attainment, as well as an increased percentage of A*/A grades.
In English there was a stunning 100% pass rate (A*- C, 9 – 4) with nearly 90% of the grades at A*- B and 42% A*/A. The Science Faculty continued their exceptional achievement with 100% pass rates across all of their subjects. Biology and Chemistry had more than 70%A*/A grades with Physics achieving over half of the grades at A*/A.
The overall pass rate was 96% with 100% pass rates across 13 different subjects and nearly half of the grades being A*/A. Some of the highest achievers were Reece Parkinson and Evie Day who both achieved 10 A*/A grades across some of the most challenging subjects.
Headmaster Mr Shaw said
“It is fantastic to see such strong results, with nearly half of all GCSE exams being graded at A or A*. Every single pupil passed English while Maths achieved 97% A*- C, these results build on the excellent results from the accelerated group who took their GCSEs earlier in the year as well our strong A Level results last week. A special Congratulations should go to Amelia Collict & Molly O'Donoghue who achieved an exceptional Grade 9 in English Literature and A in Mathematics 1 year early.
While some schools are under pressure to narrow the curriculum, it is particularly good to see Arts, PE and other subjects doing so well and I am very grateful for the hard work of all the teaching staff at Scarisbrick Hall School, the support of the parents, and most importantly the commitment of the pupils themselves in achieving these impressive results.”
